Reported leaks & rumors
- ›Release: not announced. Korean tipster Lanzuk (yeux1122 on Naver) says Samsung is aiming for January 2027, or February at the latest (Digital Trends, October 19, 2026). The S26 Ultra was announced on February 25, 2026.
- ›3x telephoto: reportedly dropped to cut costs, which would leave three rear cameras. Tipster Ice Universe first claimed it in April 2026, ETNews reported it in August 2026 (9to5Google, August 3, 2026), and Ice Universe repeated that only the 5x telephoto stays (GSMArena, September 29, 2026). Not confirmed by Samsung.
- ›5x telephoto: unchanged from the S26 Ultra. A late-August rumor of a 4x lens with a 1/1.9-inch sensor was called "100% false" by Ice Universe (GSMArena, September 14, 2026), and Roland Quandt says it stays a 50 MP 5x periscope with a Sony sensor (GSMArena, September 16, 2026).
- ›Main camera: 200 MP, said to use Samsung's ISOCELL HP6 sensor (Ice Universe, via GSMArena, September 29, 2026).
- ›Variable aperture: reportedly dropped. ET News reported that Samsung decided the benefit was too small to include it on the S27 series (Android Authority, August 12, 2026).
- ›Selfie camera: 16 MP with autofocus, up from 12 MP on the S26 Ultra (Roland Quandt, via GSMArena, September 16, 2026).
- ›Image processing: a warmer color temperature than previous Ultras, better control of small bright highlights at a distance on the main and 5x cameras, and smoother low-light photos with less noise (Ice Universe, via GSMArena, September 29, 2026).
- ›Design: a camera plateau across almost the full width of the back, with the two large lenses on the left and a capsule holding the telephoto and flash beside them, shown in leaked CAD renders and a dummy unit. S26 Ultra cases won't fit (GSMArena, November 3, 2026).
- ›Chip: the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, even in South Korea, according to tipster yeux1122 (GSMArena, November 6, 2026). Earlier reports had Exynos 2700 versions for Korea and Europe, and SEDaily reported overheating in Samsung's tests, which Qualcomm denied (GSMArena, October 16 and 30, 2026).
- ›Battery and charging: 5,534 mAh rated, likely sold as 5,700 mAh, with 60W wired charging, per China's 3C certification (GSMArena, September 18, 2026). The S26 Ultra has 5,000 mAh.
- ›Price: a preliminary US target of $1,399, from tipster @phonefuturist (Android Central, October 9, 2026). The S26 Ultra launched at $1,299.99.

Samsung hasn't announced a date. Korean tipster Lanzuk says Samsung is aiming for January 2027, or February at the latest (Digital Trends, October 19, 2026). The S26 Ultra was announced on February 25, 2026. Our S27 Ultra release date and price guide tracks the timing leaks.
Will the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra have a variable aperture camera?+
Probably not. Android Authority reported on August 12, 2026, citing ET News, that Samsung dropped the variable-aperture main camera for the S27 series because the benefit was not big enough to justify it. Earlier leaks had suggested it, but the latest report says it won't make the cut.
What changes are rumored for the Galaxy S27 Ultra zoom?+
The reported change is a removal, not an upgrade. ETNews reported in August 2026 that Samsung plans to drop the 10MP 3x telephoto to cut costs and keep a 50MP 5x periscope (via 9to5Google, August 3, 2026). That would leave three rear cameras: a 200MP main, a 50MP ultrawide and the 50MP 5x. A later rumor of a 4x lens with a bigger sensor was denied by Ice Universe, and Roland Quandt says the 5x stays the same 50MP module with a Sony sensor (GSMArena, September 2026). Samsung has not confirmed any of it.

Roland Quandt reported in September 2026 that it moves to 16MP with autofocus, up from the S26 Ultra's 12MP (GSMArena, September 16, 2026). Autofocus would keep close-up selfies sharp. Samsung has not confirmed it.
