Best Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 Camera Settings
A 50MP main camera and a 12MP ultra-wide, with FlexCam and cover-screen selfies, on One UI 9.
Published ·Last updated
The quickest way to better photos from a Galaxy Z Flip6 is to stop using its inner selfie camera. Close the phone and shoot with the 50MP rear camera while framing on the 3.4-inch cover screen, and half-fold it into FlexCam when you want a hands-free shot. The tables below cover those tricks and the everyday settings.

Settings to change first
| Setting | Recommended value | Why |

| Side button double press | Open Camera | With the phone closed, the camera opens on the cover screen next to the rear lenses. |
| Shooting methods | Show palm and Voice commands on | They take the shot when the phone is standing in FlexCam. |
| Composition guide | Grid lines and level | The level keeps horizons straight. |
| Pro mode picture format | RAW and JPEG | You get a DNG to edit next to the usual JPEG. |
| Scene detection | On for quick shares, off for natural colour | It sits under Photo enhancer on One UI 9. |
Settings by situation
Selfies on the cover screen
GSMArena found rear-camera selfies easier and better than the oversharpened inner camera.
| Setting | Value | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Solo selfie | 1x rear camera, Photo or Portrait mode | Use 50MP in daylight for extra detail. |
| Group selfie | 0.6x rear camera at arm's length or further | The ultra-wide can't focus closer than about 40cm. |
| Trigger | Show palm, a voice command or the timer | Your hand stays out of the frame. |
Everyday and travel
The 50MP main camera gave detailed, clean photos with strong dynamic range in GSMArena's review.
| Setting | Value | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Lens | 1x for most scenes, 2x for details | There's no telephoto, so past 2x you're cropping. |
| Resolution | Default 12MP, or 50MP in bright light | The 50MP mode captured more detail in testing. |
| Zoom | Walk closer before going past 2x | DXOMARK found zoomed shots short on detail. |
| Motion photo | On for people | Best Face can fix closed eyes in group shots later. |
Hands-free and FlexCam
Half-folded, the Flip6 stands on its own with the preview on top and controls below.
| Setting | Value | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Setup | Half-fold the phone on a table or a wall | It works as a built-in stand for timed shots. |
| Auto Zoom | Let FlexCam frame the group | Samsung says it detects the subject and zooms in or out by itself. |
| When Auto Zoom stops | Avoid zooming by hand or switching cameras | Samsung says either one disengages it, and it's limited in low light. |
Low light and night
GSMArena found the night processing restrained, so the full Night mode often needs choosing by hand.
| Setting | Value | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Mode | Night mode at 1x, selected yourself | It gives brighter, cleaner shots than the automatic result. |
| Support | Stand the phone in FlexCam | A still phone lets Night mode capture without a tripod. |
| 2x at night | Usable, but expect less gain than in daylight | GSMArena found the night 2x only a little better than the Flip5's. |
| Exposure | Pull it down a little for neon and streetlights | Bright signs keep their colour instead of blowing out. |
Video
GSMArena found 4K at 60fps on every camera with very good electronic stabilisation.
| Setting | Value | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Everyday clips | 4K at 60fps, 1x | It's sharp and smooth with stabilisation on. |
| Walking shots | Video stabilisation on | GSMArena rated the electronic stabilisation very good. |
| Film look | Pro video at 24fps | GSMArena found Pro video adds a 24fps option. |
| Footage you'll grade | Pro Video with Log | Samsung's developer page lists the Z Flip6. Our Log video guide covers grading. |
| Vlogging | FlexCam on a table, cover screen as a monitor | You can see yourself while the rear camera records. |
RAW and editing
The Flip6 was the first Flip on Samsung's Expert RAW list.
| Setting | Value | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Pro mode RAW | Photo format > Pro mode picture format | Set RAW and JPEG. |
| Expert RAW | 12MP for Astrophoto and Multiple exposure | Turn on Special photo options first. Our Expert RAW guide covers the workflow. |
| Photo Assist | Gallery > Edit | One UI 8.5 brought the rebuilt Photo Assist editor to the Flip6. |
| Editing apps | Lightroom mobile or Snapseed | Both open DNG files from Expert RAW and Pro mode. |
One UI 9 menu paths

It got One UI 8.5 from 6 May 2026, and SamMobile reported stable One UI 9 (Android 17) reaching it in South Korea on 6 October 2026, with other countries to follow. - The ultra-wide has no autofocus.
- The inner selfie camera is oversharpened, so use the rear cameras for selfies. Our selfie settings guide has more.
- Auto Zoom is limited in low light, according to Samsung.
Frequently asked questions
What are the best camera settings for the Galaxy Z Flip6?+
Take selfies with the 50MP rear camera on the cover screen, use 0.6x for group selfies and stand the phone in FlexCam for hands-free shots. Choose Night mode yourself after dark and record 4K at 60fps.
